Perfect for Me

I am in love...

with this song and the lyrics:

Ron Pope - Perfect For Me

You sit in the bathroom and you paint your toes
I sit on the bed right now and I sing you a song
It's not always easy, but somehow our love stays strong
If I can make you happy, then this is where I belong

And I'd just like to say
I thank God that you're here with me
And I know you too well to say you're perfect
But you'll see, oh my sweet love, you're perfect for me

I know all your secrets, and you know all of mine
You're always there to hold me up when I'm losing my mind
I wish that I was stronger, so that I had more to give
I'll share everything I have, we'll find a way to live

And I'd just like to say
I thank God that you're here with me
And I know you too well to say you're perfect
But you'll see, oh my sweet love, you're perfect for me

Even after all this time, there's nothing else I ever find
In this whole wide world can shake me like you do
It's true that something so sublime that there aren't words yet to describe
The beauty of this life I've made with you

And I'd just like to say
I thank God that you're here with me
And I know you too well to say you're perfect
But you'll see, oh my sweet love, you're perfect for me
Yes I promise, you're perfect for me...

Tomorrow I celebrate 7 years of happiness with Jeremy. I couldn't be happier.

Inspiration

I'm not afraid to admit that there are times during my program where I am overwhelmed and stressed. Where I start to question if I can really handle being a school counselor, and whether I can apply all that I am learning into practice. During these times I start second guessing my own strengths and amplify my weaknesses.

Then there are moments where I find inspiration. Whether it be an enthusiastic professor who clearly loves what he or she is doing and wants to share all their knowledge with you and are sincerely invested in seeing you succeed, or watching a documentary with a powerful message and delivery so strong that it evokes emotion with a single picture.

Sometimes I wake up overwhelmed by the piles of work and reading and projects that I have to complete, but luckily once I start reading and learning through the process of completing these tasks, I find myself enjoying the topic and information. I also find myself eager to learn as much as possible and be able to apply these valuable lessons to actual cases and interactions with students.

At times I get discouraged, but, as the movie last night showed me, I remind myself that there is such a need for my profession. It saddens me to think about how many children and students feel alone. And more and more I'm believing in the "power of one", how one person who shows that he or she cares about the students, wants to see them succeed, wants to hear what they want to say, and help them find their way through difficult problems, can really make a difference. To see a student realize that he or she is important and that they have endless opportunities for their life would be the ultimate gratification. It is for these reasons that I can continue to learn and stay excited about becoming a school counselor. Because I can't help but think to myself, if no one helps these children, then who will?

Having gone through years of uncertainty about what my goals in life are, and what occupation would make me happy, it finally feels great to have a clear goal.

The Naily Blog

Yes, the title is beyond corny.

I've started a new nail blog since I change my nail color at least twice a week.

Just for fun, helps me practice my photography skills and will also serve as a digital "notepad" for any nail polishes, collections, designs or techniques I'd like to try out in the future.

Leave me comments

PS - As an added bonus, I also created a "Polish Index" page where I list out the products and colors I use for each blogged look.

Counseling Session in Progress

I've been so immersed in learning about counseling techniques, theories and strategies that I feel like I incorporate a lot of them into my daily interactions. Especially with friends that come to me frequently with their problems, worries or concerns.

Not sure if it is unethical or unprofessional to treat some of my friendly conversations as a "counseling session in progress", but I just feel like some of the basic principles of counseling are more beneficial even to friendships, than judgments or advice-giving.

Endless Possibilities

I'm in a good mood today. Probably because I've completed all my schoolwork ahead of time and can relax a little bit. Once I meet with the new practicum/internship coordinator, I'll be even more calm.

Now that it's fall and the weather is beginning to reflect the season, I've started thinking of new recipes to try that require fall ingredients. Pumpkins, apples, cinnamon, cranberries, squash, etc... I always forget how much I really love fall and what comes with it.

Since I love cooking and baking so much, I'm really regretting having been dumb enough to delete my old food blog. I'm considering starting a new one, and hopefully being able to update it more frequently. Suggestions? Comments? Would people even read it? Now that I caved in and got a smartphone, I assume the picture-documenting portion would be easier too. I just think it would be nice to share the results of my culinary adventures. I think ideally I would also want my blog to be more interactive, meaning getting recipe suggestions that friends have been wanting to try but haven't had the chance to make, creating them myself, and then writing an entry with feedback and suggestions to help them create it whenever they can. This would be more interesting and fun than just updating with my own entries every couple of weeks...

I've also wanted to start some sort of mail-order baking business. Starting with something small like having a handful of cookie or brownie options that people can order and have sent to their lucky friends, families, colleagues, etc. Have a signature look and design and logo. That would be fun...

Maybe if this teacher strike really happens, I can focus on this. Or I can try starting this during the holiday season with my month-long hiatus between semesters. I'll keep you all updated, but just wanted to receive some feedback about this idea of mine...

Hopefully I can start up the food blog #2 sometime this week.
