Halloween

Happy Halloween!

This year I dressed up as a Devil and my accessories were made for 5 - 8 year old girls. Awesome.

A few things I learned:
- fake eyelashes are challenging to put on correctly
- red lipstick looks good on me
- extra glue/double-sided tape should be used when placing devil horns on one's forehead
- tights/stockings are necessary for freezing October evenings
Laura and her roomies had a fun party on Friday! And I got to spend all of Saturday with my best friends and boyfriend - watching the rally, playing Scrabble, cooking up treats, and eating Thai food for dinner.

Overall great weekend! Unfortunately I have so much work to get done for classes...I guess it'll keep me busy as I wait for the trick-or-treaters to start arriving...

Sing a Song

I have a lot of chapters to read, projects to work on, and research to be done. All I feel like doing today is singing. Or attempting to sing along to Disney, Glee, Rocky Horror, oldies songs.

I wish I still played the piano. I was never really that great at it, but it would be fun to sing songs and play the music on my own. I also wish I could play guitar for the same purposes.

I'd like to work on my voice. Maybe I can find some time next semester to get vocal lessons...

New life

Studying has become my favorite thing to do. And the library has become my new home. Actually, I think I spent more time at the library last Thursday, than I did in my own room.

Well, at least my grades thus far, reflect the effort and work I'm putting into my classes.

Tonight I figured out my schedule for Spring semester, then I had to go through the list of courses that are needed to graduate and plan which classes I would take when. Looks like I'll be attempting to take 2 courses this summer, and a full course load every semester, and will still not graduate until the Fall semester of 2012. I guess it's really only a semester more than I expected, but all of this planning makes me nervous/stressed/worried.

I should really continue studying for my last midterm tomorrow. I'm nervous about it, but hopefully it'll go as well as the other two. Striving for that 4.0...

Study, Paint, Grub

I studied for about 6 hours today. I plan on studying more tomorrow. I better do well on these 2 midterms next week.

I'm in the mood to paint. I still owe Laura a housewarming painting of a purple flower to match her newly painted room. I hope I can find some time soon to paint that for her. I also want to challenge myself and paint a large portrait, landscape, or another multi-panel piece - like the one that I made for my room in the south jersey house.

I wish I could see Jeremy more. He makes me so happy. It's almost 7 to 6...I can't believe it has been that long, but I will save my feelings/thoughts about that for a vomit-inducing entry next week.

I wish I updated my cooking blog more. There are so many recipes I would like to try! I'd also love recipe suggestions because I often gravitate towards similar recipes. I have to upload/edit the pictures of the birthday lasagna that I made for Jeremy earlier this week. It was possibly the best one ever (not bad considering I've made him an annual birthday lasagna since his 20th birthday).

I need some ideas for a Halloween costume, yet I have no plans for Halloween. It might be pathetic to dress up to hand out candies to the neighborhood kids as they interrupt my studying...

I wish more people updated their blogs, but I know everyone is busy these days.

Chile Miners

I should be finishing my essay due for class tonight, but instead I'm watching the live coverage of the Chilean miners rescue. They have already rescued 13 out of the 33 men that were trapped. The courage, hope, and faith that these miners possess is truly inspiring. I should get back to writing my essay, but just wanted to share this story.

You can watch some of the rescue coverage here:

Wedding

Yesterday I went to a family friend's wedding. The ceremony was beautiful - church was vibrant, lighting from the windows was just the perfect amount, the flower arrangements coordinated with the bridal party and complimented the bride and groom, and the attendants were few, but consisted of people most important to the couple. I cried the moment she walked in with her father.

The reception was wonderful as well. Very fancy shmancy place - Carriage House! The cocktail hour was fun and filled with delicious foods, including a roast pig which is a traditional part of any grand Filipino party. The ballroom was huge and the atmosphere was elegant, yet fun - low lighting, centerpieces were large vases with water dyed light purple and topped with white lilies and purple flowers, DJ booth was on a loft-like area above the couples' table, and dance floor was huge with the couples' names being projected onto it. Overall, a great night of fun, food and dancing.

I feel like I have a love/hate relationship with weddings. I love them because I always have a great time and I love seeing how happy the couple is, and how happy the parents are, and hearing speeches about the couple and seeing slideshows of baby pictures - present. I hate weddings because the past few ones I've been to have not worked out with Jeremy's schedule so I've had to go solo/ no one to dance with for slow dance, and they bring out a jealous side of me that I hate having. A bunch of our family friends were joking around with me last night telling me that I was next, but I wasn't the one that caught the bouquet. So, I will just have to be patient and hope that one day, I'll be at that point where I'm ready to fully commit myself to one person and likewise, that person will want nothing more than to be with me forever...I just hope that point is sooner than later.

UPDATE: What does it mean if my boyfriend sends me this link:

Jingle Bell Run/Walk

In my Intro to Counseling Services class we have a final project where we're supposed to place ourselves in a new situation, face a fear, or create a challenge. I'm not a big fan of running and I'm always self-conscious about others seeing me running, so I decided to challenge myself by joining a 5K run.

My friend JoAnne signed up a few weeks ago and mentioned it to me. I figured this would be a great way to challenge myself, but also have a friend joining me for moral support! Perfect.

So, I'm going to officially start my training for this next week - better diet, running everyday, basically anything and everything I can do to increase my endurance/ability to run.

I hope this challenge will result in some positive outcomes, however regardless of whether or not I end up being terrible at the event, I'll still feel happy knowing I was able to raise some money for a great cause.

So please visit my fundraising webpage! Any help you can offer can make a difference!

Update

It has gotten noticeably colder these past few days. This kind of weather makes me want to stay indoors in my nice warm pjs, enjoy a cup of hot tea/hot cocoa and stay in bed. Unfortunately, my schedule does not permit me to do this much...

My first mid-term is next week. I'm hoping my intense studying will allow my brain to soak up all of this material in time. I'm learning a lot in my classes and am enjoying the material/discussions.

There's really nothing else new in my life...hopefully I can go pumpkin picking with Jessika next week, and I can't wait for apple picking/cooking/anniversary celebrating with Jeremy the following weekend :)

I'm also craving some opportunities for my creative/artistic abilities...pottery-painting anyone?
