Thanksgiving

I'm taking a short break from cooking, baking and washing dishes, as I wait for my little cousins to come over for a sleepover/movie night!

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and luckily I am on schedule for getting all of my dishes baked and cooked in time for the big feast. Thanksgiving is about more than just good food though. It is a day to spend with great family and/or friends and be thankful for what you have.

This Thanksgiving I am thankful for many things.

1.) My family. Cannot wait to see my relatives tomorrow AND spend time with all my little (and older) cousins!

2.) My boyfriend. I had another fun time with him today and it's great to have someone you feel so loved and comforted by.

3.) The opportunity to be a graduate student. I'm loving my program and am so thankful that I'm investing my time and energy towards a future career that I really want and love.

4.) Good health - generally. I'm still able to walk, talk and think.

5.) Great friends. FFFCUP, WWPers, & RUers - all of the fun times, laughs, joys, tears and support.

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for what you have and what you have been given.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

5K Update 2

The weather was great for my run this morning!! I had been running the past few days to the same "Rock It Workout Mix 2010" that I downloaded last week, but changed it up with my own creation of "5K Workout Mix" which is a nice balance of what Nike+ would call "power songs", 90s pop, and 2010 chart toppers. The run felt great, but still need to work on pacing myself so I don't pass out in exhaustion at the finish line.

Since this 5K is a fundraiser, I'm also really inspired by the two more donations I received! (Hint, hint -- there's still time to donate if you're willing and able! Just visit my personal donation page: http://mcjbr.kintera.org/lindsayplaza -) The actual run will be on December 5)

I think I'm going to change my running schedule up a bit and run every-other-day instead of each morning. On the "off" days, I will walk 5K and do a few reps of 10lb dumbbells.

5K Update

It is exactly one month until my 5K run. I'm still working hard and learning to know what pace my body is comfortable running at. There's still a lot to be done though. Mainly, I need to be more strict about my diet - Halloween and days with friends, while a lot of fun, set me back a little bit with my training...

I think I'll stick to lean proteins, more veggies and fruits and absolutely no candy or sweets for the next few weeks.. apologizing to anyone in advance if I see you and am in a cranky/terrible mood...I think the sweets that I eat are what fuels me to be the sweet person that I generally am.

I also downloaded a few new songs and mixes for my 5k, which I am excited to try out on my run later this afternoon.

Hopefully I can find some time to buy a new pair of Nike sneakers, as my current ones are worn out and still covered in red dust from the Grand Canyon. A few Nike+ sneakers have caught my eye and will hopefully be a new addition to my training!

Money, Honey

I know it is too early to think about holiday presents, but I like to plan ahead and it gives me more reasons to procrastinate on the actual work I should be doing.

I'm on a tight budget for presents this year, but have started making plans and brainstorming about gift ideas...

That being said, I'm estimating that 80% of my gifts will be homemade and/or food-related this holiday season.

Luckily, I have some culinary talent, and artistic abilities, which, in combination, can result in some tasty & pretty presents.

Get excited! :)
